Historic Wrecks and Natural Formations
The Maltese archipelago dazzles us with its historic shipwrecks from World War II, as well as an abundance of artificially sunken wrecks, making Malta, Gozo, and Comino some of the best destinations for wreck divers in Europe. His geographical situation, equidistant from all European capitals, make Malta a paradise for wreck diving lovers at all levels.
Malta offers an outstanding underwater experience where historic wrecks blend with spectacular natural formations. Divers can explore famous sites such as the Blue Hole in Gozo, a dramatic natural chimney opening into the open sea, and the Inland Sea, a sheltered lagoon connected to the Mediterranean through a long tunnel, ideal for cavern and cave-style dives. The islands are also home to impressive limestone arches, caves, and swim-throughs, alongside well-preserved wrecks that now serve as thriving artificial reefs.
Water temperatures range from around 15–16°C in winter to 24–26°C in summer, with excellent visibility throughout the year, making Malta and Gozo a top destination for both recreational and technical divers seeking adventure, history, and clear blue waters.
Most of the iconic wrecks on Malta are accessible from shore. The entry and exit points are accessible from ladders or ramps, making Malta the best and well-prepared country in the EU for recreational and technical shore dives
